CMS (Content Management System) – systems for self-updating website data
CMS is a system which is used to manage part of data on the site, or even all informations that exist on the site. It usually includes two parts:
- Content Management Application (CMA) and
- Content Delivery Application (CDA)
CMA allows to website moderator, who doesn't need to know HTML (Hypertext Markup Language), to insert new or delete old contents from the site, while CDA module compiles new contents and transfers them to Internet.
CMS advantages:
- You can quickly and easily, without much knowledge, change semblance of the entire site
- The system automatically makes note about changes in content in database, so, if some errors
occur, content can be easily added or returned to previous state.
- The system itself makes data indexing, so the process of searching on site is simplified.
There are two factors that must be discussed if some company introduce CMS system:
- The size of the organization and its geographic dispersion (especially if it spreads to more countries)
- The diversity of data and forms that companies use in everyday work (such are different types of text documents, graphics and other images, video and audio materials) can really impede system leadership.
